Revolution SkateparkRevolution Skatepark in Kent has just had it’s street course resurfaced, the concrete floor is now covered with environmentally friendly Latvian birch plywood making it even smoother and faster. They originally planned to resurface the park in Easter to coincide with their 10 year anniversary in June but feedback has been overwhelmingly positive since their last ramp rebuild 3 months ago that they decided to bring plans forward.

They plan on hosting some special events to mark their anniversary, with Death, Karma and Blueprint all unconfirmed demo’s to be taking place.

From the Transgression Website:

transgression-park.jpgTransgression Park is the latest initiative to come out of the EHX team. It’s an Urban FreeSport destination catering for all your urban and ‘extreme’ sporting requirements. Initially the park consists of an indoor skatepark, a breakdance area, a café and a shop. However as we get going we will be introducing free running, tricking, trials, a stunt school, an airbag and anything else you tell us you want to see (within reason!).

The park was designed by Scotlands pro BMX rider Dave Sowerby. Dave was also behind the design of Penicuik Skatepark. We think he’s done a pretty neat job incorporating street and ramp features for BMX, Blades and Skateboards into the 9020 sq ft floor space. We’d like to hear your comments on the design – we will incorporate these wherever possible.

The Park is located on the top level of the Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre which must make it the highest Skatepark in the UK. It also has views out across the Forth Estuary and the Royal Yacht Britannia – pretty cool!

Address: TransgressionPark, Unit LE3, Ocean Terminal, Leith, Edinburgh, EH6 6JJ.

savesouthbank.jpgThe UK skate mecca otherwise known as Southbank is under threat, the under-croft has been used by the skateboard community since the seventies.

Southbank has increasingly reduced in size in recent years and was supposed to be returned to it’s original size but that is now unlikely and it’s future is looking bleak. One part of the Southbank centre has already been turned into shops and rumor has it the rest is to follow.

Prevent this happening by signing the Save Southbank Petition: petitions.pm.gov.uk/saveSB/

The film ‘Save Southbank’ has been made in response to the uncertain future of the south bank. Please join us for the premier at the Prince Charles Cinema, 7 Leicester Place (Leicester Square tube) on the 7th of February at 7.45pm.

Entry is free, but you must get a ticket from Slam city skates. No tickets will be given out on the evening.

Unit 1 SkateparkThe indoor skatepark in Rochester closed in May of last year after the company which ran it revealed it was making a loss of approximately £80,000 a year.

A group of skaters and parents decided to reopen it as a charity and after months of hard work and a lot of legal negotiation, the park has finally reopened.

They have been successful in gaining funding and plan to resurface the entire park.
