On Sunday, one of the major events in the skateboarding calendar went off with a bang. Or a small fizz, depending on who you wanted to win.

The webcast was kept alive (most of the time) and the commentators never forgot us watching from across the pond.

Despite Rattray’s power-pushing and combo tricks around the entire course, (even the lil’ box), he was beaten to the top spot by the man of the moment, Greg Lutzka.

Sheffield’s very own SOS (skater owned shop) is to close at the end of March.

Straight from the Story Website:

“Unfortunatly Story will be closing it’s doors at the end of this month. We will be having a big sale in the shop as of now so head down for some bargains, pretty much everything is going cheap. Thanks to all of you who have supported what we’ve tried to do over the years keep supporting SOS (skater owned shops) and not the blank selling chain stores who are taking away the soul of what skateboarding is all about. Here’s a list of shops we recommend you checkout

Mischief skate store
Slam City Skates
50-50
SS20
The House Skatepark
City Surf
Ideal
Native
Casino
Bored
Focus
Note

There’s more SOS as well so i if missed any my apologies. Check these and any others you know of and try and do your bit for SOS because there the ones who actually give a shit and will let you hang out in there stores so don’t take that for granted.

Sorry for the depressing update by the way.”

So next time you pick up that blank from eBay or those Ipath’s from TK Maxx, remember the guys at Story and go support your local SOS, because one day, it won’t be there.

In the meantime, make the most of what’s left and head on over to the site.
